This week one of the most important Earth Observation event is taking place in Athens: the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) recalls more than 2.500 esteemed scientists and professionals in the Remote Sensing field worldwide. On Thursday 11th July 2024, SDGs-EYES activities will be presented by Sergio Albani, Head of the Research, Technology Development and Innovation Unit at SatCen, within two sessions.
During the session “R9: Citizen and Open Science I“, the presentation “Development of a methodology to calculate an SDG indicator relevant for security applications using EO data” by M. Lazzarini, O. Barrilero, P. Saameño, M.A. Belenguer-Plomer, I. Mendes, S. Albani, will outline SatCen pilot activities within the SDGs.EYES project to calculate the SDG indicator 13.1.1 “number of deaths, missing persons and directly affected persons attributed to disasters per 100,000 population”.
During the session “R9: Remote Sensing for Climate Change Impacts”, the presentation “Climate Security: a comprehensive approach from R&I to operations” by A. Ussorio, S. Albani, M. Lazzarini, G. Maza, R. Onori, Y. Arnaud, A. Patrono, will provide an overview of SatCen activities in the Climate Security domain and how R&I projects as SDGs-EYES contribute to improve SatCen capabilities.
