SatCen will be in attendance at the GEO Global Forum 2025, which is to be held in Rome from 5th to 9th May. SatCen has a long-standing involvement in GEO, as evidenced by its status as a Participating Organization. Additionally, it is a member of EuroGEO and the EuroGEO High-Level Working Group, and it leads the SPACE-SECURITY Convener Group in the Post-2025 Strategy Implementation Plan.
On 6th May at 16:00, a community event entitled “Safety, security and resilience of citizens and societies” will gather European and international partners, fostering dialogue at global scale and addressing multigenerational audiences to discuss different perspectives and approaches to find the optimal response to security needs.
Security nowadays requires a cross-domain cooperation;. It is becoming more and more important to understand the link between events belonging to diverse domains (e.g. climate, hazards, disasters, health, energy, food) and their impact on livelihood and sustainability of populations to guarantee the safety, security and resilience of citizens and societies, not only for taking appropriate actions but also for policy-making and long-term strategies.
An example of a cross-domain theme is climate security, which is also the subject of SatCen SDGs-EYES pilot.
