SDGs-EYES User Uptake Webinars

From January 2025, to May 2025, SDGs-EYES project organised monthly User Uptake Online WebinarsEach webinar focused on one of the five SDGs-EYES pilots: Climate Security, Eutrophication and Acidification, Extreme Temperatures Risk, Forest Cover and Erosion, and GHG Emissions from Fire

These webinars were a direct continuation of the co-design workshops and test validation activities, where potential users contributed to shaping and evaluating the pilot services. These webinars aimed to bridge the gap between development and operational deployment, ensuring the services meet users needs. The insights gathered were not only used to refine the pilot services but also to inform strategies for scaling, commercialization, and integration into existing workflows, thereby maximizing their exploitation potential and long-term impact.

The Aim

The primary aim of the user uptake webinars was to engage diverse stakeholders, fostering collaboration and promoting the adoption of the SDGs-EYEs pilot services.  Through these webinars, participants could:

    • understand the tools and solutions employed by stakeholders;
    • explore synergies between the SDGs-EYES pilots and existing services;
    • identify workflow-specific challenges and unmet needs; and
    • highlight actionable opportunities to maximize the use of SDGs-EYES solutions for exploitation and sustainability.

The Target Audience

The webinars were open to a broad audience connected to the thematic domains of the SDGs-EYES activities in relation to the monitoring of the SDGs. Participation were encouraged from primary, secondary, and tertiary stakeholders, to foster a moderated dialogue among diverse groups, enriching the outcomes and ensuring the relevance of SDGs-EYES solutions across sectors, including:

    • co-design users from Phase 1 of the project (technical focus);
    • research institutions and academia;
    • private and commercial users;
    • data providers and trade associations;
    • policy makers .

The Outcomes

The User Uptake Webinars enabled the achievements of:

    • engaging and activating potential users of SDGs-EYES pilots;
    • expanding awareness and dissemination of SDG products and their applications;
    • collecting insights into community-specific needs and requirements; and
    • enhancing the adoption rate and refine the business strategy of SDGs-EYES pilots.

Through these collaborative efforts, SDGs-EYES seeks to bridge the gap between innovation and application, enabling the sustainable and effective use of EO-based services to achieve global development goals.
