Between the 4th and 6th of December 2024, our partner CMCC held a first meeting of one of its three new institutes – Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP) aimed at fostering collaboration, sharing scientific advancements, and exploring innovative solutions within the framework of climate science and Earth system modeling. The event took place at Fondazione Golinelli, a renowned cultural and educational hub in Bologna, Italy.
The agenda of this three-days meeting included high-level plenary sessions, interactive keynote lectures and parallel scientific and management sessions. It emphasized interdisciplinary approaches and knowledge exchange. In the course of the IESP meeting there was a virtual poster session held to further increase the visibility of a wide spectrum of CMCC research projects portfolio, both within CMCC and to external experts.
Within this session, a poster fully dedicated to the SDGs-EYES project, in particular, Pilot 3 “Eutrophication and acidification” implementation (SDG 14: Life Below Water), was delivered by Dmitry Kondrik and Tomas Lovato. It included the general description of the project and its aims, as well as more details on the workflow structure of the Pilot 3 and related SDG indicators of marine Acidification and Eutrophication.
The IESP meeting event was a great success: having hundreds of researchers from different fields of Earth Sciences and invited speakers from different countries, it gave a good opportunity to exchange the knowledge and scientific results and provided a perfect ground for further fruitful collaboration. It also provided a good opportunity to increase the visibility of the SDGs-EYES project.
