In ESA-ESRIN, Frascati (Italy), the SDGs-EYES project will be presented by its Project Coordinator Manuela Balzarolo at the Copernicus Security Service R&D workshop organised by the European Commission (JRC/DEFIS) on 22 October 2024.

The workshop’s primary objective is to foster collaboration and establish working-level partnerships to operationalise research projects or advance them for further development. It will enable projects to present their goals, innovations, and potential applications for the Copernicus Security Service (CSS), while CSS will outline its expectations and support requirements. The event will also focus on identifying synergies between projects and CSS, discussing pathways to transition research outcomes into operational tools, and improving feedback mechanisms for the continuous refinement of projects based on CSS needs and operational challenges.

The SDGs-EYES Contribution

The contribution of Dr. Balzarolo, representing SDGs-EYES, will focus on:

  • Highlighting the main objectives of the project and any novel aspects that are particularly relevant to CSS.
  • Providing an update on the progress of the project.
  • Discussing  potential applications and user cases for CSS.
  • Outline the roadmap for integrating the project’s outcomes into Copernicus services or commercial applications.
  • Identifying any challenges the project is facing and specifying potential support needed from CSS, including user requirements, data, piloting/testing, and operationalisation.

This workshop is a valuable opportunity for Horizon Europe 2020 (H2020) and Horizon Europe (HE) projects to present their work and engage with the Copernicus Security Service (CSS) and potentially other Copernicus services.
